During the summer Janet spends most of her days rebuilding dry stone walls in Derbyshire. Anyone who has read her life story will know this is a real skill but, sadly, a dying trade.
In the winter, she walks her three dogs (two of her five original four-legged friends have sadly moved on now, to the great kennel in the sky) and she also keeps busy helping out at a local farm and stables.
Janet and I keep in touch regularly. We email, we chat on the phone and we meet up for lunch occasionally.
Obviously, I feel responsible for a lot of what’s happened since we wrote the book but Janet assures me that she doesn’t hold it against me…
